I’m Kelly and I am here to share the tidbits of my life and touch upon what I feel is most important…
Laughter, Strength…and, of course, Food. The necessities of life.
I try to find silver linings. I believe that things happen for a reason and if one plan falls apart (which happens a lot!) there is usually a better one right around the corner. I just turned the BIG 3-0 and am finding that it is not as scary as I thought it would be!
I consider myself to be very restless and indecisive well-rounded. I graduated with a degree in Biology, along with minors in Biochemisty and History. There was a time in my life when becoming a doctor was all I wanted to do. For whatever reason, I changed my mind my senior year of college and, since then, I have…become an aerobics instructor, worked toward a teaching degree, worked at an insurance agency, and, finally, found my home at the dermatology office where I now work. I love what I’m doing and I would never change anything about the path that brought me here.
I love and always have loved fitness and being active. That whole aerobics instructor thing I just mentioned?…I have been a Jazzercise instructor for six years and love every minute of it. No. I don’t wear leg warmers and leotards. No. I don’t have big hair (well, at least I don’t try to). No. We don’t workout to Olivia Newton John’s “Let’s Get Physical”. Jazzercise is a great class that incorporates not only cardio, but also weight training, yoga, pilates, kickboxing, and stretching. The music and routines are always changing and staying current! If you have a class by you, I highly suggest popping in and checking it out! In addition to teaching Jazzercise, I love attending other group fitness classes, running, and doing any activity that gets me outdoors!
I have a love affair with food. I rarely eat because I’m hungry…I eat because of how delicious food can be! Cooking and baking is like therapy to me. I use it as that escape that we all need every now and then. I come from an amazing family that believes in consuming large amounts of grains, fruits, and vegetables. And pizza. Buried in cheese. Oh, and speaking of cheese…I could never get enough. I don’t even try to control my obsession. I do my best to eat clean and keep my meals healthy, but I’m all about moderation. I believe that giving into cravings and just forgetting about the rules every once in awhile is good for the soul.
I currently live in a small town about an hour east of Pittsburgh, PA with my fiance, Lee, and our two crazy dogs, Jet and Rosie. Lee is a police officer and owns a Harley…that is what consumes his time. Jet and Rosie are insane and like to wrestle, jump, sit on our laps, and give kisses. That is what consumes their time.
My main goal is to provide information on how to lead your healthiest lifestyle, both mentally and physically. There is no one magic plan that works for everyone. The key is to find the best combination of food and fitness that works for you! So, with that said…go make some of my recipes, go for a walk, try an aerobics class, or flop onto the couch and spend the afternoon in your pjs. Really, anything goes…
