I Need My Mail

Ahhh.  Saturdays with no plans.  Is there anything better?

So, I hate to start today off with a gripe but I’m going to anyway.

In our town, most people do not have mailboxes…we all have post office boxes at the post office.  Now, there are some post offices that have their mailboxes in a designated area that can be accessed even when the post office is not open.  Not ours.  There is one door to the post office and when it’s locked, it’s locked.  There is no access to anything.  Even our mailboxes.  Soooo…that means that I can usually only get my mail on Saturday mornings because I am never home during their weekly hours of operation because I have a little thing called a ‘job’ that operates during the same time.

In the summer, I never mind waking up early with the sun and heading down to the post office to grab the mail.  They close at 11am so you really have to be on top of your game to get there and there is no time for sleeping in!  However, in the winter?  No thank you.  I have no desire to wake up, get my coat, boots, hat, scarf, and gloves on (picture: “I can’t put my arms down!”) and start the car and drive down the street just to come home and turn off the car and take off all of my bundling.  It would be much more convenient if the mailboxes could be accessed all day so I could just drop by at my leisure.  I know.  The world doesn’t revolve around me…but it sure would be nice if our post office would.

Very long story short – I didn’t get my mail today.

Instead, I relaxed, made myself a great breakfast, and watched the snow come down as I sipped on a delicious hot cup of coffee.

I threw together an egg white scramble that was originally supposed to be an omelet.  I grabbed a spatula that was, obviously, less than stellar because the eggs stuck to it and my omelet turned into a messy pile of eggs.  Nonetheless, it was delicious.  In the mix was egg whites, red and yellow peppers, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese.  I added some slivers from leftover avocado and an apple with honey drizzled over the top.

Right now, I am just cuddled up with a pup and cup of coffee and watching some trashy Saturday morning TV.  Yeah, I could totally be heading out and making it to the post office before it closed but, instead, I’ll just sit here and complain and gripe about how their hours should be more conducive to my schedule.

I’m going to have to get off the couch in a little to start laundry and get this house somewhat in order.  That will only happen after my trashy TV, of course!  I just love Saturdays!

Alright, friends, I know this post was all over the place….and thanks for hanging in there!  I hope you all enjoy your Saturday and make the most of your weekend!

With much Love and Laughter,
Kelly

That sounds like the perfect Saturday morning :)

As for the mailbox situation, that is riDONKulous. Seriously, more than ridiculous. I live in a smal town, but that sounds like the 1950s!

Ahhh, the post office, my arch nemesis!!!! Or at least, it was when I was living in New York. Mail is so complicated there. I have no complaints here in Alaska though. That sounds like a bummer!

Sounds like a great Saturday to me! :)

  4. SAD! Our mail guy gave our mail to the neighbors for a few days…that was pretty annoying especially since our neighbors never bothered to tell us and I ended up re-ordering several Christmas presents since I thought they got lost in the mail…GRR! Oh well…enjoy your lovely day! : )

  5. That’s so weird about the post office – they close at 11AM?!

Cuddling up with a pup and some coffee sounds like the most perfect Saturday morning. Enjoy.
