Hey! Happy Tuesday morning!
How was everyone’s weekend and Monday? Too fast as usual? Yeah. I thought so. Well, probably the weekend went fast and then Monday went slow. That’s usually how it works.
Lee was off this weekend and we had grand plans to get a lot done around the house. It desperately needed a deep clean and the yard needed done. We were even going to clean the basement!
Well. I am here to announce to you that none of that was done. The house didn’t get a deep clean, the grass didn’t get cut, and the basement definitely didn’t get anything done to it. And this is why…
Our original plans for this weekend involved going to a bike rally with our friends. We had planned to leave on Friday morning and stay for the weekend, however, I went out and got a new job and, thus, ruined our plans. We were supposed to pack up ourselves and our bikes and trailer them to a town two hours away. I had originally planned to ask for the day off, but I am actually on vacation starting next Monday, which is two days after our new office opens. I’m lucky that they were okay with me keeping my scheduled vacation and I didn’t want to push my luck by asking for anymore time off.
So…long story short…we decided not to go. However, all day on Friday, we kept being told how much fun it was and that our friends missed us (thank you for those constant texts, guys!) At 1:30am, Lee says to me, “What do you think about riding down to meet them in the morning?” I knew that he really wanted to go and was disappointed that we had to cancel, so I said, “Sure.” I got out a backpack (we have no bags on our bike, so we can always only travel with what we are able to physically carry) and started to just throw a few pieces of clothing into it. Then, I thought about the 40% chance of rain that was on the radar for the morning…and threw in a few more articles of clothing to replace the ones that were probably going to get wet when we got rained on. We made arrangements for our pups and we were out the door! I was slightly panicking because of the impending stormy weather and our quick decision to leave, but as soon as we were on the road, my nerves calmed and I settled down.
The trip was about two hours long and we only hit some sprinkles of rain for about ten minutes…definitely not bad since the skies looked like this the whole time…
We reached our friends just as they were finishing breakfast and getting ready to head out for the day. Our day included some riding, shopping, eating, and more riding.
Looking back, I’m really glad that we decided to go. Even though I was stressed about just picking up and leaving, we had a great time with our crazy friends. And, guess what? The dirty house and high grass were still waiting for us when we got home! Imagine that!
Have a fab Tuesday, guys!! Two more days until our new office opens at work! It will be crazy but it is super exciting!
Do you like to be spontaneous or do you like to have plans?
Did you ever just pick up and leave for a trip without having plans?
