Hey Friends! ![]()
Here we are! Half way through the year!
I’ll skip all the ‘time is going way too fast’ talk and just jump to ‘how did I do with my June goals’ talk. This past month has been absolutely crazy and has been full of many changes….some bad and some good. June flew by in a whirlwind, but let’s see how well I kept up with my goals and did what I wanted to do!
1. Find a florist
I’ll say this is half done. I have the names of a couple of florists in my area that were recommended to me, but I haven’t called and made appointments to meet with them yet. So…I have names. That’s a first step!
2. Eat more veggies
Check! I definitely got more veggies in my diet this month! Check out some of my favorite recipes from this past month….Avocado Tuna Salad Lettuce Wraps and Balsamic Red Pepper Chicken
3. Make more dinners during the week
While I didn’t do this as often as I would have liked, I definitely did it more than I have in the past couple of months. Evidence: See #2 above.
4. Incorporate more ab work into my workouts
Done. I really concentrated on my abs during my Jazzercise classes and I also threw in extra workouts at home like the one pictured above.
5. Get a haircut
I definitely did this one, thank goodness!! When I sat in the chair, Cathy, who owns our Jazzercise center and does all of our hair, said, “Are you ready to donate it?” My answer was ‘no’ and we moved on…just a trim and some fresh layers. I always donate my hair, but I just have to wake up one morning and go and do it. I have to be ready and it has to be spontaneous. This past haircut just wasn’t the time.
6. Work on my patience
I am sad to say that I haven’t really gone out of my way to be any more patient with anyone. I am not confrontational and am never open about my impatience with people, but I really need to work on this just for my own sanity so I’m not so worked up all of the time! Stress is bad for you!
7. Buy a new pair of black heels
I haven’t done this yet. I’m too busy checking out sandals and wedges for summer. Closed toes shoes will have to wait until fall.
8. Go through my summer clothes
This didn’t happen and I’m not going to say it will happen any time soon. I like to be honest with you guys and me telling you that I’m going to get to this would be a lie…so, we’ll just throw this one out the window for now!
9. Ride my bike
Yep! Did it! Not only did I ‘do it’, but I had such a great time doing it! I haven’t been on my bike in forever and it was so great to switch up my workout with a different type of cardio that was different than my aerobics or running schedule. I headed out on a few trail rides and I definitely will be getting the bike out more!
10. Get more sleep
I actually think I am doing this. I get ready for bed earlier and I actually feel rested most days when my alarm goes off. I am feeling more refreshed and feel really positive in the morning. It’s amazing what some sleep can do!
I think I’m about 50/50 on my goals for this month and I am going to just be happy with that. Goals are put in place to give you something to strive for and if you do not reach them all, there is no shame in acknowledging that fact and then continuing to work on them. The end of June doesn’t’ necessarily have to be the end of my reach toward my June goals.
That’s the great thing about goals!…if for some reason you don’t reach one, there is no reason why you can’t continue stretching out that arm until you do!!
What are some current goals you have for yourself?

I love posts like this that reflect on our fitness and health goals. To move forward, we must look back, reflect, modify and correct. Best wishes for July!
Good for you! I should get more sleep and focus more on my abs. Actually, ab focus is one of my July goals. We’ll see how I do!
It’s insane to think how quickly we’ve gone through the first half of 2012. Kudos on making progress with some of the goals, and good luck making the others happen in the second half! I’m totally with you on the patience one!
I really cannot believe how fast this year is flying — I say it every year, but I swear time is going faster and faster all the time! Being more patient is definitely something I should work on too — I try, but old habits die hard!
