Good morning, Friends!! ![]()
Nice to see you all again. I took a few days off…which seems to happen often around here anymore! I could go on and on about how busy I’ve been, but there is no need for that. I mean, who isn’t super busy!? I’m not really sure what consumes my time…I just know that I never seem to have any left in my day!
And all of you out there that have jobs and children!? Major *high fives* up to you! I have no idea how you do it!
Alright. So, let’s talk workouts.
I am a person that absolutely loves winter. I love snow. I love to ski and, even though it makes driving tough sometimes, I love to see those snowflakes falling. I also love those kind of nights where the snow is falling and I’m all snuggled up on my couch under a blanket and the world seems silent. It’s so peaceful.
Screeeech. Put on the brakes. As wonderful as winter and snow is, there is one area that definitely suffers for me during the winter.
My workouts!
Well, specifically, I should say my running workouts. I still teach multiple Jazzercise classes a week and check out the occasional Body Pump class at my local gym, but running takes a back seat and I just don’t like it.
I know what you’re thinking. If I’m unhappy about not running, then I need to do something about it. I know! I know! I try. I really do. I set my alarm every morning super early in the hopes that I’ll decide to get out of bed, bundle up, and go for a run. It just never happens. I always tell myself that I’ll ‘do it when I get home,’ which is a total joke, because I usually don’t get home until after 8pm on most nights. If I could just quit my job that would leave all kinds of time to squeeze in my runs!
Don’t mind me. Just living in a fantasy world.
There is a half marathon that I want to run in May and this week would be Week 1 in a twelve-week training plan. I have been so close to clicking that “REGISTER” button, but I just haven’t done it. I am terrified that I will register and not fit my runs in and not be ready. However, it usually works out that clicking that button gives me the motivation I need to fit those runs in. I no longer have a choice.
So…we shall see if I register. We shall see if I really step it up and start getting out there to pound the pavement.
Dear Winter,
I love you just the way you are. However, if you could find a way to make your mornings sunny and warm, I would appreciate it.
Love, Kelly
Do you like running in cold weather? What motivates you to get out there?
Are you an AM or PM workout kind of person?

I feel the exact same way as you – how parents manage to fit everything in is beyond me — I think they’re total rockstars
I am a morning workout kinda gal although my schedule has been really lacking lately. I feel great getting it overwith so I have my day to enjoy, but getting out of bed has been really, really hard since Christmas!!!
sun makes everything better no matter what the temperature!
I’m an AM person for sure!!
