Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Sunday Everyone!  Happy Mother’s Day!  :-)

Today, I want to take time to not only honor my mother, but also the mothers of my best friends.  I am so grateful for all of them and love them for being the wonderful women they are and for shaping my friends into some of the most amazing young woman out there.  Most of them are like a second mom to me and have had an impact on who I have become and, for that, I could never thank them enough!

I asked each of my best friends to send me a picture of them with their mom and to tell me a special memory that they have shared with her.  I also asked them to tell me what makes them such an amazing mom.  Get ready to meet some incredible ladies!

~My best friend, Christa, and her mom, Rhonda.
“Every Sunday when I was growing up and my dad went golfing and my brother was away at college, my mom and I would go to church, then to Dunkin’ Donuts, or as we called it ‘DD’, and my mom would get tea and I’d get iced coffee.  This as my first time ever drinking coffee in my life so I was very jittery ALL day, and this happened immediately after one sip!  Anyway, we would go home and make the most ginormous pancakes.  We would try to see how big we could get them.  Needless to say, we ate broken, half-cooked pancakes every Sunday!  We always had so much fun!  My mom is awesome because she always knows what I’m thinking and how I feel.  She’s my best friend and always there for me….even if I eat cake in her brand new car on the day she bought it (which I totally did)!”

~ My best friend, Liz, and her mom, Tracey
“One of my favorite memories of my mom and me is having a mother-daughter dance at my wedding.  My mom raised me to be the woman I am  now and, on my wedding day, I was able to honor her with a special dance.  She gave me strength, guidance, love, and patience…and sometimes she needed a lot of patience.  Now that I’m a mother, I can only hope I can be half the mother to my daughter that my mom is to me.

~ My best friend, Jenny, and her mom, Jewel (my boss).
“My favorite memories are our special time spent together when we stay up watching a movie or talking with a cup of tea.  She’s the most loving, supportive, and caring person in my life.  There is no way I would be where I am without her.”

~ My best friend April, and her mom, Judi.
“One of my favorite memories of my mom happened when my husband, Donny, and I got engaged.  We were vacationing in the Outer Banks with my family and he proposed while we were out on the beach.  When we got back to our house, we told my family and my mom didn’t believe us!  She kept saying, ‘No! You aren’t!’  ’You’re lying!’ ‘That’s fake!’ She thought we were playing a prank on her!  My mom is such an awesome mom because no matter what I ask for or what I need, she is always there for me and I know she always will be.

~ My best friend, Emily, and her mom, Louise.
“My favorite memory of my mom is when she coached my softball teams growing up and when she was my cheerleading coach in grade school.  She is an awesome mom because she has always been supportive of me and my sister and would do absolutely anything for us.  Oh, and she’s a pretty good cook too!”

~ My best friend, Meredith, and her mom, Maureen, and her family.
Meredith is the wacky one in front!
Meredith’s mom passed away ten years ago during our senior year of high school.  Maureen was such an amazing woman.  Meredith remembers that her cousins always considered her mom the ‘cool aunt’ and among our group of friends she was known as the ‘crazy mom that drove too fast’!!!  She was such a free spirit and wanted nothing but the best for her family.  My favorite memory of Maureen happened the summer before our senior year.  She took Meredith, our friend Dave, and me to look at colleges.  We traveled down south and spent a week touring different colleges in the Carolinas and Georgia.  We had so much fun and there are times that I still laugh about stuff that happened on that trip!  Maureen left this world with four children who are all amazing because of the love she had for them.  We will never forget her.

~ Me and my mommy, Bernadette.
My momma is the best out there!  One of my favorite memories is when she traveled with me when I became a Jazzercise instructor.  I had to go to a workshop in Cleveland and I asked her if she wanted to go with me.  She took the weekend off of work and we made the trip.  We were only there for two days, but she was a trooper since she had to hang out alone while I was at my tryout and then while I was at my required classes after I passed.  When she came to pick me up at the center after my last class, she surprised me with a bear that she made me at the Build-A-Bear workshop to congratulate me for passing.  After that, we stopped at Lake Erie and took some pictures…there was an amazing sunset that night.  I will never forget that weekend that we spent together.  It meant a lot to me that she was there.  My mom is such an amazing mom because she has put up with me for almost thirty years!  She has worked so hard her entire life to give me everything I have and I could never thank her enough!  She is always there for me and never judges me.  She has an amazing heart and puts her family first.  I am so lucky to have her!

Thank you so much to all of my favorite moms for always being there for all of us!  You are appreciated and we all value you more than you know!  You are all amazing women!

Happy Mother’s Day!  <3

Thank you Kelly. I have been having a little trouble with my thoughts on her this year. Busy and crazy year for a lot of us! Happy mothers day to all of the mommies in this post!

  2. Kelly,

What a wonderful idea to not only celebrate your mom but so many other amazing women! :) Such a beautiful loving bunch!

I really can’t decide on one favorite memory of my mom but I will always remember thinking that she must have been soo stressed out having four kids so close in age and have been dying to have us go to school so she could get back to work. When I said this to her a few years ago she replied “ohh no! the ten years I was home with you guys were the best years of my life!” :)

I can’t wait to have a family of my own! :)

    Happy Mother’s day!

This is a really sweet post. I love seeing how wonderful everyone’s moms are – hopefully one day we’ll all do as good of a job as they did. My mom is an amazing smart, independent woman who thrives on discovering new things, a characteristic I was lucky enough to inherit. She’s taught me everything I know and I love her.

I think this weekend, wedding weekend, will become on of my favorite memories with her but I love my childhood memories of her playing games with us – always with an educational twist – and baking cookies together. Such great memories.

  8. A great memory of my mom is when she would sit on the floor with me and we would roll out a hug sheet of butcher paper and we would play win lose or draw for hours.

  9. This is freakin’ adorable. What a sweet post! I miss my momma so much, I wish I could have seen her for mother’s day.
